Wonderful post, Fran. Last night I had a great conversation with two of my grandkids--they're turning 19 next month. We were discussing what's happening in America and How this all happened and the importance of standing up and fighting for their freedom. I was so impressed how smart they are and informed.
Thanks SO much, Michele. Grandkids give me hope. Mine are a decade or so older than yours, but the whole Gen X and beyond generation continues to amaze me with their awareness, and their optimism. One of mine now (finally 🤭) is even interested in making me a great-grandmother, in defiance of those who say the world is too tenuous to bring a child into. So I continue to believe that democracy and the planet can live on.
I really believe in these kids. How wonderful to be a great-grandmother! My grandson who is 22 witnessed an ice raid and was pretty upset by it. He said that he wished things didn't have to be this way. It broke my heart, but I told him nothing last forever.
Oh bless his heart. I'm 70 years older than your grandson, and sometimes go to check-ins to support undocumented immigrants who have applied for asylum or green card & are hard-working friends & neighbors. And though ICE has so far not grabbed anyone we're supporting it is terribly upsetting to me just seeing them. Tell your grandson we are NOT a country that will tolerate masked "enforcers" and it's going to stop. SOON I hope.
Thank you so much, Fran. I really appreciate your kindness, and I know my grandson will too. You are one of those very special people that we need more of.
